2 Super Easy Way To Naturally Prevent Ticks For Dogs (That Works!)

If you are worried that your dog might get a tick infection, using home remedies for tick prevention is your safest bet. When it comes to treating your dog’s fleas and ticks, it is highly recommended to stay away from products that you can purchase at the store or have been given by your vet. Tick collars are also a major issue, when it comes to the overall health of your canine friends, they have been shown to cause many issues in dogs after constant, long-term use. These side effects include, but are not limited to: fur loss, weight loss and organ failure.

Most dogs have a habit of cleaning each other; the last thing you want is for one of your dogs to get sick because of the chemicals that are found in other forms of treatment. Making your own remedies at home using natural products can be a great alternative for yourself, your dog and children. That way you are one hundred percent sure of what is being put around your family and yourself.

If you are unsure about how to create your very own home remedy to get rid of ticks, do not worry. It does not take a lot! There are 2 types of natural tick prevention remedies that you can instantly prepare using common products.

For the first natural remedy, you need 4 things as below:
  1. A plastic spray bottle
  2. A cup of filtered water
  3. Cedar wood essential oils - Cedar wood oil is a popular natural pesticide and has a component that reacts negatively against the chemical balance of bugs including ticks.
  4. Rose geranium essential oils - Rose geranium oil helps to fights infection, ease inflammation and helps heal insect bites.

Here are the steps to make it:
  1. Fill the water bottle half way with filtered water (make sure the water is clean), the amount of water will of course depend on the size of your bottle. Keep in mind, you want to add enough to lessen the effects of the essential oils, but not too much that will not allow the effects to hold up.
  2. Once the water bottle has been filled properly, add 10 to 15 drops of cedar wood oil and rose geranium oil respectively.
  3. Replace the cap on top of the bottle and shake well to ensure that the mixture is will distributed through the solution.
Spray the mixture on pets, outdoor furniture, clothes or skin to repel the fleas and ticks that are effecting your loved ones. It is safe for dogs in the house and children that are petting these animals. Make sure to use before every venture outside to ensure proper efficiency.

For the second natural remedy, apple cider vinegar is also another simple home remedy to repel fleas and ticks that causes irritation to your dogs.

To make this anti-tick remedy you need only 3 things as below:
  1. A spray bottle (plastic)
  2. Apple cider vinegar (get the organic, raw unfiltered one)
  3. Warm water
Here is how easily you can make it:
  1. Mix one cup of apple cider vinegar with 1/4 cups of warm water, mix the two ingredients into the spray bottle, replace the cap; then shake well to make sure they intertwine well.
  2. Spray on all items that you wish to repel fleas and ticks from. The ingredients are completely safe to use on animals, direct skin contact, and children.
The solution will have a faint spell of apple cider vinegar, it will be strong enough to repel the unwanted bugs, but not powerful enough to make others not want to be around you or your pets. For best results with this homemade remedy, spray on before every venture outside.

Always look out for your dog's reaction when using any home remedy or medication. Home remedies are generally safe but just make sure you observe how your dog behaves once you apply the remedy.
